pills…and it can be a tricky experience! Most pup parents know that hiding the pill inside a treat they love is usually a huge help.

Most (if not all) packaged pill pocket types of treats contain animal products or other yucky fillers. As a dog mom, I’d been meaning to make my own. It wasn’t until recently that I realized how SIMPLE making these things can be! Check out our recipe below and let us know what you think with a comment below!

3 Ingredient Vegan Pill Pocket Recipe

[Makes about 12 pill pockets; 100% vegan/gluten free]

2 tbs oat flour (or flour of your choice)

1 tbs creamy organic plain peanut butter

1 tbs soy milk

Simple Steps: Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl, hand form the dough into little balls, then poke each ball with a chopstick to make a pre-formed hole. Store the treats in the fridge up until the expiration date of the soy milk.

Vegan Toothpaste Recipe for Dogs

Dental hygiene is super important for your dog’s overall health. Gently brushing their teeth on a daily basis is the best way to remove plaque and prevent the buildup of tartar. With this simple recipe, you can make your own healthy, tasty, and pet-safe toothpaste that won’t send your dog running when you get the toothbrush out.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup virgin and unrefined coconut oil

4 Tbsp food-grade diatomaceous earth (or baking soda)

Handful of fresh parsley

1 tsp cinnamon

(Note: Baking soda can be harmful to dogs if ingested in large enough quantities, so be careful not to overdo it if you use this ingredient. You may want to order some food-grade diatomaceous earth, which is fossilized algae and completely vegan, but you’ll definitely get the gritty texture you need for your dog toothpaste.)

MATERIALS

1 jar with lid

1 blender

METHOD

Add ingredients to your blender and mix thoroughly. Scoop out the contents and add it to your jar. Refrigerate when not in use.
